Meet the team
Who we are.
The people who actually answer the phone.
Nepotism Personified Operations Manager
When he’s not embarrassing Steven at company lunches, Jerry handles a lot of the behind-the-scenes tasks like paying bills and processing payments. We pick on him relentlessly, but he is the soul of Maverick Bearings.
Insufferable Know-It-All Inside Sales
What he lacks in hair he makes up for in work ethic. Jared is a jack of all trades known for his attention to detail and dependability. You want this guy on your team, but you can’t have him.
Textbook Type A Accounting
Lindsey is an exceptional employee with absolutely no room for improvement. She is literally perfect. And no, I am not writing this at knifepoint. Ok, fine. She’s pretty great at what she does.
Elitist CrossFitter Shipping & Fulfillment
The envy of all the other men in the office, Isaac is more shredded than the chicken at your favorite Mexican restaurant. He’s also responsible for all those nicely packed and photographed shipments you keep receiving.
Incompetent Boss General Manager
It turns out you don’t actually need to know what a bearing is to sell them. Our well-intentioned leader is less mechanically minded than his 3-year-old daughter. But his passion for entrepreneurship and small business can’t be denied.
Better often requires the courage to think differently.
Convention gets plenty of things right. But maybe there’s a better way. Stay curious, question assumptions, and be willing to try something that might not work. Different isn’t the goal. Better is.
Technology should make life easier, not less personal.
We’re all for better tools and automation. But as technology advances, genuine human connection only becomes more important. Make time for real conversations and treat people like people—not transactions.
Life is too short not to enjoy what you do.
Doing great work and having a great time aren’t mutually exclusive. Might as well have a little fun while you’re at it. Boring is optional. Laughter is mandatory.
Good fortune is better when you pass some along.
The good news is, the weight of the world isn’t on your shoulders. Give when you can, how you can. You never know how far a little good might go.
Short version.
January 2021
Carolina Bearing Company begins in Steven's garage—with no employees, no warehouse, and a 2½-month-old baby at home. The timing was impeccable.
Fall 2021
Steven hires his dad, Jerry, as the company's first employee. A couple months later, we bought a ping-pong table. Priorities.
March 2022
After outgrowing its first warehouse space, Carolina Bearing moves into a much larger suite. Jared joins the team a month later. We got that one right.
2024–2026
The idea for Maverick Bearings begins in early 2024. What starts as a name change gradually becomes something much bigger—a new brand, a new online store, and a clearer vision for the kind of company we want to build.
The original fulfillment center.
Employee No. 1. Dad.
An early capital investment.
Why Maverick?
The word maverick has come to mean an independent thinker—someone willing to challenge convention and take a different path. And as luck would have it, the man whose name gave us the word had roots right here in Upstate South Carolina.
That felt pretty fitting.
